This project, supplied with GRC wall and ceiling panels by GRCA Full Member Simplicity Finishes, was a FIS 2022 Awards winner.

The 100 Liverpool Street, London UK project, winner of the FIS organisation 2022 Awards ceilings category, is a mixed use commercial and retail space with The International Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete Association Full Member Simplicity Specialist Finishes’ glassfibre reinforced concrete GRC / GFRC works spanning the exterior and interior areas.

The curved and complex design of the wall and ceiling panels presented Simplicity with some unique challenges.  Different moulds were required as all the ceiling and panels were curved and shaped in various ways. Due to the intricacy of the design, Simplicity Finishes had to produce a 3D model to produce the moulds so they could see how each curved shape would come together and be hung prior to production.

To provide the required finish on the GRC panels, Simplicity Specialist Finishes did not acid etch the wall panels and they were lightly sanded & the ceiling panels were acid etched to the required finish.  To achieve this defect free finish, all the GRC mixes had to be exact.  Also, in order to hang the panels Simplicity had to design and produce a purpose built structural steel frame, enabling the panels to be installed independently of any other wall structure.
